Here is the new article :D Yay! Hope that everyone keeps there butts off the ice and there feet on the ground. Personally, I'm tired of feeling like Humpty Dumpty...
Now Hear This: Smooth Mraz
Here is it if you can't get through the link.
Jason Mraz first came onto the music scene in July 2004 with his hit song, “The Remedy (I Won’t Worry),” which hit number two on the Billboard charts. His new single, “I’m Yours” and his new album, “We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things,” has hit No. 3 in the U.S. album charts. U.S. Adult charts places his new single at No. 1, while Billboard places it in ninth place.
He has been on a few movie soundtracks like “50 First Dates,” “New York Minute” and the television show “Everwood.” His sound is quite unique. Like Maroon 5, his sound changes from song to song and album to album. He has a light and airy sound that sounds summery and emits feel-good vibes. His first hit with “Remedy” was a summer favorite during 2004, providing a musical refuge.
His newest single, “I’m Yours,” has a Caribbean feel to it; it can be used as a part of a summer montage scene, with beaches, margaritas and the epitome of summer: the beach bonfire. The acoustic guitar and Mraz’s voice blends together like good strawberry lemonade. “I’m Yours” has a beach-themed music video that was filmed in Hawaii. All in all, it is a song that gives off summer ambience.
No amount of summer feel-good vibes could starve off the lyrics of his first single “Remedy.” Despite the happy-go-lucky background music, the lyrics are about his dying childhood friend. The sad news changed his whole outlook on life, leading to the creation of this hit song.
Summer-sounding artists are great during the summer, but in the throes of bitter winter cold and ice-covered sidewalks and roadways, they are even better. The sounds of summer invoke the feel of the sun on bare skin and sweet breeze that flutters in; all of these senses go back to feel of summer and can put you in a better mood. Other great summer artists include Kenny Chesney, Pink and many others. Winter is no reason not to feel like a rockstar or to have good tunes like those by Jason Mraz. I give him 4 out of 5 stars.

Now Hear This: Dylan Nov. 2-8
Obama was elected president today and it is an unbelievable day in history. It is just amazing. Obama's speech was fantastic and just in awe.
This is a brand new day. John McCain's speech was amazing too. It was a long and hard race and both parties tried hard, but, we're not here for politics, we are here for music and... Now Hear This: Dylan is now up.
Now Hear This: Bob Dylan
If you can't get to it at that link, here's the article in full.
Bob Dylan is the one name that evokes the image of New York sound, the musty, smoky bar in Greenwich Village. He was notorious for playing secret shows in the village in the 1960s and ‘70s. He still does shows, and his most recent album, released in 2006, is called Modern Times, which I highly recommend alongside his other CDs.
He was not the first to talk about politics in music, nor will he be the last. One of my favorite songs is “The Times They Are A-Changin’.” While it was written in the 1960s, the song is just as relevant now as it was then. The political climate and chaos of the ‘60s is all embedded in his music. The strumming of his guitar and the flow of his gravelly voice provides a song that is both irresistible and memorable. While iTunes says that his music is of the Rock genre, I think that he is label-less, which can make organizing his music a bit difficult. He can be Folk, Rock, and Country Rock all on one album.
One song that should be on a Road Trip album is “Subterranean Homesick Blues,” which, to me, just screams Jack Kerouac. While they are of two different crafts—Kerouac as a Beatnik poet and Dylan as a Rock singer—they can and do blend together, like a good French Roast and a dash of cream and sugar.
Coffee references aside, his music states something that everyone heading into elections knows: “The line it is drawn/The curse it is cast…/The order is rapidly fadin’./And the first one now/Will later be last/For the times they are a-changin’.” No matter your party, good music is good music, and Dylan is definitely good music.
DJ M’s Playlist of the Week:
1. Gates of Eden- Bob Dylan
2. Corrina, Corrina- Bob Dylan
3. Radio Nowhere- Bruce Springsteen
4. Strawberry Fields Forever- The Beatles
5. Gotta Fight for Your Right to Party- Beastie Boys

Now Hear This: Ani DiFranco Article Oct. 26- Nov.1
Article is up for last week and the newest article should be up here shortly.
Now Hear This: Ani DiFranco
Or if you can't get to it by that link, here's the whole article.
Ani DiFranco has the beauty of a model, but she’s actually a folk singer with an attitude. This is a hard-hitting girl who is not afraid to say what she thinks and feels. Ani is being hailed as “one of the greatest acoustic guitarists since Bob Dylan” and her live album, “Live at Babeville” is said to be “one of the best live acts since the Grateful Dead.”
She has been producing music for the last 18 years and has been featured in many movies, such as “My Best Friend’s Wedding,” and hit shows like “Nip/Tuck.” While her music is her business, her other duties include being a mother to Petah Lucia, born on Jan. 20 of last year. She takes her daughter with her when she tours, and has been quoted as saying, “my daughter is growing up on the road.” Her feministic views and new status as a mother are all reflected in her new album “Red Letter Year,” which is going to be released on Sept. 30.
Her voice has a nice tone to it, no hard-hitting electric guitars. Instead, she has her lyrics and acoustic guitar. The music is not all folksy songs like Grateful Dead; there are songs like “Emancipated Minor” that pick up the beat into a jazz setting, like Arethra Franklin in “Chain of Fools.” “Red Letter Year” sounds like The Blues Brothers meeting The Grateful Dead with a sprinkle of Miles Davis and pinch of Bruce Springsteen. DiFranco’s sound is unique in the folk music scene and hopefully paves a way for new musicians who want to travel in her footsteps.
While I really like her new CD, I give it 3 out of 5 stars. She has a wonderful sound that is rich and full and brings life to an old music scene.
DJ M’s Playlist for the Week:

2. Like a Stone-Audioslave

4. Take Me Away-Plain White T’s
